I like sayings, especially wise sayings and quotes when famous people made a relevant point, which you can use in your own context. It’s good to know you are using an anecdote which others find thought provoking as well.
I know when I see a quote it seems to link to something already in my mind and make it easier to take on the poit of the author who used the wise says quote. It’s like hanging their thoughts in a place you already value because of the famous point already made previously.
This can be used advantageously in a marketing perspective to give your potential customer a common point of interest. Common ground is of course always a good thing and well known in a sales context to be something which should be identified to help get your potential customer to take on board what you are telling them.
With wise sayings and quotes online it can be even more important for your customer to feel they identify with you. Remember there are so many other places they can go on a global perspective, if you are the one they relate to you are more likely to be the one making a sale.

Sayings, Wise or Whistful

Posted by admin on August 21st, 2009 and filed under sayings wise, self sayings, wise sayings and quotes, wise sayings quotes | 10 Comments »

Sayings wise or brought in by their common use are usually based on something useful in certain circumstances. It can be amusing to use a saying out of context to make it into an amusing anecdote.
Similarly quotes taken from, for example; speeches, can be use in the same way as sayings and with perpetual use can become sayings as well.
Unfortunately with excessive use a once amusing saying viewed originally as wise can metamorphosise into a cliche.
What is it that makes an amusing anecdote into a cliche, well it’s commonality is really the deciding factor. When you start a saying which you believe could be amusing in a social context, bit then find everyone joins in as they know exactly what you are saying then you are in the realms of a cliche.
The avoidance of cliches seems to be appropriate when one is looking to make a good impression. However when they are appropriate they are still used as a wise saying.
